Scenic Blue Mountains

Today's adventures would take two Orlando 22103 roomies and I up the Blue Mountains.

I picked Crystal and Kenzie up from Penrith station and we grabbed breakfast from 2773 in Glenbrook.

Sometimes you worry that your interstate and international guests won't like your local eateries as much as you. There was nothing to worry about. Crystal was very impressed by the artwork with her name on it.

Kenzie enjoyed hearing the One Tree Hill theme song over the speakers. The food was pretty fab too. Brother Benedict's poached eggs contained runny yolks, so my day was made.

After sussing out a little more of the decor we found our way (after getting a little lost) to Scenic World in Katoomba. Before we arrived, service was exceptional. Originally Kenzie and I were supposed to visit this part of the Blue Mountains January 5, but plane delays led to Kenzie touching down in Sydney 26 hours later than expected. Sarah and the team at Scenic World transferred our tickets from January 5 to January 9 and Crystal was able to purchase a ticket too. The staff we encountered in person were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our journey through the wilderness began on the Skyway.

We commenced walking to Echo Point. I would say hiking, but all the tracks we encountered were well marked, fairly flat or featured easily manageable stairs.

There are even benches and environmentally manufactured seats to rest on.

Echo Point wasn't graced with our presence. Instead we found this little lookout to capture a snap of the famous Three Sisters.

Here's the three sistas with the Three Sisters.

Katoomba Falls was our next stop. We soaked in the natural, Insta ready beauty of the Blue Mountains. I can't believe they woke up like this.

The Blue Mountains soaked in our sweaty, exhausted from the weekend beauty.

We ventured back to the main building on the Skyway. A much needed toilet break and water bottle refill took place before a ride on the Scenic Railway.

The world's steepest railway was far less terrifiying than my childhood memories led me to believe. The descent even contained a musical surprise. At the bottom of the slope we discovered the cool air flow of miner's ventilation. We observed other mining paraphernalia.

I attempted to ride the pit pony back to the main building.

After a surprising fail, we took the Cableway instead. Our stroll to the Cableway station led us through the rainforest.

Upon arriving at the main building Kenzie tried her first Paddle Pop - rainbow, of course. Crystal and I had one too.

We took the scenic route back to Penrith. I dropped the girls back at Penrith station exhausted, but grateful for global friendships started by a mouse.
