It's Showtime: Jesus Christ Superstar

Witness Blue Mountains Musical Society nailing Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar from May 20 to June 4. 

 

Don't be fooled by song titles, such as Everything's Alright because everything about this show is beyond phenomenal. The Jessica Lovelace directed rock musical promises a grunge, post-apocalyptic aesthetic with a vibrant surprise.

Sure, this musical tells the story of Jesus and Judas, but it's not exactly a biblically accurate retelling. Remember when Jesus had face tats, the apostles wore cargo pants, and the prostitutes of The Temple slinked sultrily in combat boots? Yeah, me either. But this May and June you can see that and so much more on stage thanks to the fabulous costumes by Linda Aubrecht, and amazing makeup designs by Holly Benton, Gabriella Stockwell and Jessica Lovelace.

I had the personal privilege of being cast as a featured prostitute dancer.

You can't sit with us... but you can sit in the audience and watch us dance a variety of styles choreographed by Emma Joseph including Jazz, Lyrical, Cabaret and a smattering of Hip Hop.

 

10 beautiful dancers will perform before you, but only one can be chosen as BMMS's Next Top Dancer.

Come for the dancing, but stay for the crucifixion emotionally evocative music directed by Matthew Lovelace. Experience the gamut of emotion, from the anguish of Gethsemane to the jubilation of Simon Zealotes.
