A Taste of Cuba

Sure, the real Cuba might be on the other side of the world, but Penrith explorers can experience a taste of the foreign nation right in their own plaza.

Located in the Riley street food alley of Westfield Penrith, customers are transported to the balmy Coco Cubano.

Dining during summer definitely contributes to the tropical atmosphere. The music and decor help transport diners in all seasons.

The atmosphere and visual feast whet the appetite for an array of culinary delights.
Calorie conscious guests can select healthier fare, such as the tantalising salmon served with a nutritionally rich salad.

While those who don't view carbs as their arch nemesis can tuck into a juicy burger.

Coco Cubano also offers a wide variety desserts and cocktails for anybody who didn't fill up on carbs.

With free parking and Penrith Station a brief stroll away what are you waiting for? Get your taste of Havana nights (and mornings and afternoons) at Coco Cubano.

It's Showtime: West Side Story

Have you ever wanted to watch sharks performing on stage? Well, now's your chance.

No, it's not some strange Cronulla Sharks stage play or Greg Norman: A Swinging Musical. Blue Mountains Musical Society is set to stage West Side Story next month.

If you've never heard of the Romeo and Juliet inspired musical now might be the time to crawl out from beneath that huge rock and head out to the newly refurbished Civic Centre in Springwood. West Side Story, led by dynamic directing duo Naomi and Drew Livingston, is set in 1950s New York where Americans aren't happy with the influx of the apparently foreign Puerto Ricans. Locals unhappy about migration? Sound familiar?

By now you're certainly wondering where the sharks come in. Will there be a giant aquatic tank centre stage? Will I need a poncho to sit in the splash zone? Once again the answer is no. The musical features two gangs - the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. The teenage gangs attempt to settle their differences with jibes, violence and a manly baritone. Alongside the Sharks and Jets are their girls. They jive and mambo the scintillating moves of choreographer Lisa Sontag through the New York cityscape.

Emerging from the rivalry is the blossoming young love of Jet leader, Tony (Micah Bawden) and Shark girl, Maria (Toneika Del Rosario). They seem to find all manner of opportunities to declare their deeply romantic feelings through angelic song.
